Admissions
Admissions Policies and Procedures
We warmly welcome all applications for places at St Peter & St Paul CE Academy and encourage parents to visit the school with your child prior to admission. Due to the high demand for places, St Peter & St Paul CE Academy increased our planned admission number from 60 to 75 Early Years places in the 22/23 academic year.
We are an academy within RISE Multi-Academy Trust and the directors are the Admissions Authority. Admissions are coordinated by the Local Authority (LA) and can be submitted online. Responsibility for the operation of this policy is delegated to the Local Governing Committee (LGC) of the academy, who allocate places according to our admissions policy. When Governors have considered your application and a decision has been made, the LA will write to you directly with the result.
St Peter & St Paul CE Academy is currently consulting on our proposed admissions policy for 2024/25, with alterations to the priority of admissions to benefit siblings of existing pupils. Our draft policy for 2024/25 can be found below. The consultation period runs from 5th December 2022 until 30th January 2023. The Governing Committee welcomes responses to the proposed policy from local parents, community members, relevant bodies and admission authorities. If you wish to comment on the proposed arrangements, please send your response in writing for the attention of Mrs Jackie Wainwright, School Business Manager, either by post to the school address or e-mail to officeteams@spsp.risemat.co.uk . Comments should be received no later than 4:00pm on Monday 30th January 2023.
The Governing Committee will take account of responses to this consultation before determining its arrangements.
First time admissions into school
- Please see our Admissions Policy for your child's year of admission (below).
- Please apply online to Leicestershire County Council, the local authority (LA) here, or contact 0116 305 6684 if you need a paper form.
- LA letters are sent out on 18th April informing of the outcome of your school place application.
Mid-Term Applications
- Please contact the school office to enquire whether there are places available in your child's year group.
- Please apply online to the LA here or contact 0116 305 6684 if you need a paper form.
Applications and visits are welcomed and can be organised at any time of the year. Please contact the school office on 0116 2607577 or through e-mail to officeteams@spsp.risemat.co.uk.
For late or mid-term admissions, it is a good idea to call us before making contact with the LA so that we can advise if there is any space in your child's year group. You can still apply but would be refused a place if there is not a space. You would then have to follow the appeals process (outlined in the Admissions Policy) should you be unsuccessful.
Appeals Process
Appeals are handled by The Diocese of Leicester. Please contact them directly via officedbe@leicesterdbe.org or on 07596 855 610 for any information regarding this process. You can download an appeals form here.
